PUG Step 1: Gastric Coaptation
Balloon catheter is placed orogastrically. External magnet pulls balloon to anterior stomach to create a temporary gastropexy.
PUG Step 2: Ultrasound Visualization
With your existing ultrasound, the future gastrostomy tract is evaluated. After a safe tract is identified, the needle and guidewire are inserted.
PUG Step 3: Capture and Removal
Balloon catheter snares the pigtail guidewire, and the two components are removed in tandem to create through-and-through gastric access.
PUG Step 4: Feeding Tube Placement
Utilizing the Sachs-Vine technique, standard over-the-wire gastrostomy tube autodilates over extisting wire for snug tube placement.
